Note: the plugin doesn’t restrict to full-size backgrounds. It is configurable to allow any type of tiling or repeating as well. If you have thoughts on other ways this can be extended, please let me know!
Thank you- Can’t click through on your profile ID link- I tried leaving a message on your Facebook page. What is best way to send PM to you?!
Hey! I believe my personal email is in the docs distributed with each plugin, but if it’s not I can always be reached at [email protected]
Hello, can you tell me if this plugin will maintain the integrity of my existing theme. I am looking to add this plugin just to change the background of my website. http://www.datement.com
It doesn’t do ANYTHING unless there’s an active CityScape for the current location, in which case all it does is override the background image for the defined element.
How/Where do I install this? Is this a plugin or a new theme?
It’s a plugin. Included with each of my plugins is full documentation which should explain the installation and setup process. If you have issues, please feel free to let me know!
Can this be used to have a unique Logo for each location?
It’ll probably take a slight tweak of the child theme, but I have seen it done.
This is not working. I get an error when I activate it. Any ideas? I’m running version Geotheme 3.1.0 & CityScapes-1.4
Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /htdocs/mysite/wp-content/plugins/GeoTheme-cityscapes/GeoThemes-cityscapes.php on line 42
Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.ghost1227.com/checkver.php?app=GeoTheme%20CityScapes&option=ver) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /htdocs/mysite/wp-content/plugins/GeoTheme-cityscapes/GeoThemes-cityscapes.php on line 42
If anyone is still getting this, you need to update. The latest version should not have this issue (or the function that causes it).
I’m getting this error as well. Did work fine before, then today when I tried to login to my wp-admin I get the error. Tried to download the plugin and upload again but still the same.
Seems there is a problem with the url http://ghost1227.com/checkver.php?app=GeoTheme%20CityScapes&option=ver
It says:
Sorry
The page you are looking for doesn’t seem to exist.
Need to fix this asap. jamieedwards did you solve the problem, if yes how?
Thanks,
My apologies, somehow the most recent release of CS never got uploaded. It has now been published. If anyone is having this issue, please download the latest version.
Image is not displaying on my site at http://www.boulder-health-guide.com Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I would need more information… what element are you tying CS to? What CSS overrides are in effect? Where do you want it to display?
I am trying to get an image to display as the entire background image, similar to what is shown at http://miamiexpocenter.com/?multi_city=0 I have an image uploaded but it is not displaying. I have no CSS overrides in effect. Do I need that for this to function? If so, can you explain how I do that? Not sure what you mean by what element are you tying City Scapes to. I really just want to use the background image function. Thanks.
Right above the CSS Overrides option is a field called ‘CS Element’. This is necessary because not all themes have the same background element, and not everyone uses CS in the same way. You will have to determine the ID of the background element your theme uses and enter it in this field, or post the URL to your site so that I can try to figure it out for you.
My Problem: The background image works great when I use the default auto-generated main menu navigation…but I need a more customized menu, so when I go to set this up (Appearance>Menus>Theme Location>main) … every page of my website loses the bg image.
If I then switch back to the default main menu, the image is back.
I need the image to work with a customized menu – what is the fix?
I need help! Thanks in advance for a quick response
Rob
I am using:
GeoTheme CityScapes v 1.4 Plugin
GeoTheme 3.1.1
GeoTheme-child-BLANK v 1.0
The plug-in has these settings used:
CityScape Options:
Background Element:
#page
CSS Overrides:
#header_outer{background: none !important;}
This is my website:
http://hiltonheadbusiness.com/
Taking a guess as to what you’re trying to accomplish… change the Background Element from ‘#page’ to ‘body’.
It worked – thank you greatly for your rapid and simple solution!
Clues on the making the slider outer section transparent and the footer? CSS?
Almost got it! You can see my site at http://www.boulder-health-guide.com The top section worked when I added #header_outer{background: none !important;}, and the Background Element: is set to #page How can I get the sides of the main content to show the image as well? Also, I would like the image to only be on the outer sides, not within the actual content of a page. Thanks.
I have a simple yet powerful suggestion that I think is not there yet (will have to verify)
It would be great if we could change the color scheme with the city section as well.
An example is if we have a city with a nfl team being able to represent the teams color scheme with the city’s selection.
Thanks and look forward to more great things to come from you.
I have been getting this message when I am in administration;
Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.ghost1227.com/checkver.php?app=GeoTheme%20CityScapes&option=ver) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found in /hermes/bosweb26a/b368/ipg.nevetscom/wp-content/plugins/GeoTheme-cityscapes/GeoThemes-cityscapes.php on line 42
What might be the problem?
You’re running an old version of CityScapes. The file-get-contents dependency was deprecated in version 1.5 (which was released in June), and the update system that depended on it was phased out. Please download the latest version and update your plugin and the error will go away.
Not sure how to update, I bought your bundle, ad manager and geotheme installation (I ended up doing myself) and the bundle and installation does not show up under recent purchases.
Ahh. You’ll have to contact the TT team about that. The authors featured in that bundle didn’t get a list of users who purchased, so I have no way to verify purchases. If they verify the purchase, I’ll be happy to send the updated file.
Is there a working demo?
I need CSS to make the background of the slider transparent instead of green?
I ws sent here from a forum comment in Geotheme forum because I want toi change the background image every time someone changes city of country.
Ok I clicked on your demo, and in the drop down list you have Omaha, No Houston and Philadelphia listed three times, with no background image change at all just a black screen.
>>???
I would like to purchase this if it’s working. The demo isn’t working and it doesn’t look like the last person resolved their issues.
